A form of late Qing dynasty currency on display at the jaw-dropping (millennia old bronzes) Shanghai museum
Public exercise on plastic equipment abounds in Chinese cities.
An arts district near every former factory or railway, and "SoHo lofts" always nearby
Japanese exhibit in Shanghai promoting alternatives to plastic bags, which, incidentally, are largely to be banned in China beginning in June. Only thicker plastic bags will be permitted, and stores may not give them away for free. It's somewhat unclear how permitting thicker plastics will reduce plastic consumption, as well as how this law is to be enforced (given, say, how rampantly industrial emissions standards are violated at the provincial level). I first found out about this new law by reading (and comprehending) the newspaper headline over someone's shoulder on the Shanghai subway!
